Hloubkové čištění pleti: 5 kroků k zářivé pokožce
We read it in every beauty article: cleansing the skin is essential to a regular skincare routine. But what should it actually look like, what do we need for it, and what common mistakes should we avoid? All your questions and doubts will be answered by our complete guide on how to cleanse your skin at home to perfection!
Why should you never skip skin cleansing?
Imagine your typical day. In the morning, you apply makeup to your face and head off to work. On the way, you sweat a little, so you touch up your makeup, and in the afternoon, you get a workout at the gym before heading out for dinner after another makeup touch-up.
During all these activities, residues of makeup, sebum, and a lot of other impurities from the environment cling to your face. This alone clearly indicates how important it is to cleanse your skin in the evening. But there are more reasons for this step than just the desire to keep your skin clean:
- Cleansing the skin helps maintain its optimal pH, contributing to its hydration.
- If you invest money in quality skincare products like face creams or serums, it's essential to know that they can only be optimally absorbed into cleansed skin. Active ingredients find it hard to penetrate deeply through a layer of impurities.
- By regularly removing dirt and sebum, you prevent the formation of acne.
- Cleansing supports the natural renewal of the skin and its radiance.
Deep Cleansing: A Thorough Cleansing Routine
You probably perform basic skin cleansing on a daily basis (at least we hope so!). But from time to time, it’s a good idea to engage in deep cleansing—similar to when we do a deep clean at home. Because, let’s be honest, we don’t always give everyday cleansing the attention it deserves. This can lead to some particles escaping our notice and settling on the skin. And when they start to accumulate, there’s a problem—clogged pores, irritation, dull appearance… Deep cleansing can tackle even the most stubborn unwelcome guests. Here’s how to do it:
1. Double Cleansing
Your daily routine should have a firm place for double cleansing. First, you cleanse the skin with a oil-based product (e.g., cleansing oil PreCleanse), which dissolves sebum, makeup, and other stubborn impurities on the skin's surface. Next, you remove any remaining impurities with a water-based cleansing product (e.g., gel Special Cleansing Gel).
And why cleanse twice? Let us guess—you probably spend a maximum of 20 seconds on this step each day. However, in that time, the product can’t penetrate all layers of impurities, so you won’t cleanse your skin perfectly. Double cleansing with two different products promises a more precise clean.
Tip: When rinsing the products, always use lukewarm, not hot, water, as hot water can irritate the skin unnecessarily.
2. Exfoliation: Gently and Moderately
The skin is now clean, but there may still be dead cells on it that prevent a radiant appearance. This is where exfoliants come into play. Avoid mechanical scrubs with abrasive particles—they can be too harsh and damage the skin barrier, especially with frequent use. Instead, opt for products that use acids (e.g., glycolic, salicylic, or lactic acid) or gentle powders, making them suitable for sensitive skin.
Whatever product you choose, remember that you shouldn’t overdo it with exfoliation. Otherwise, you risk damaging the skin barrier, which is essential for protecting the skin. So, even though the feeling of soft skin after exfoliation is delightful, always follow the instructions on the product packaging.
3. A Handy Toner
This is a step many of us skip, but it plays an important role—toner. It helps restore the skin's balance, and many toners also address various skin issues, whether it’s acne, irritation, or dryness and dehydration. They also serve as a great preparation before applying a mask.
4. Relax with a Mask
Deep cleansing wouldn’t be complete without a cleansing mask. And now is the right time to incorporate it into your routine. Not only does the mask provide an extra dose of care, but it also offers you a few minutes of pleasant relaxation.
Our tip? A soothing clay cleansing mask Sebum Clearing Masque, which absorbs excess sebum, evens out skin tone, reduces signs of aging, and leaves a refreshing cooling sensation.
5. Hydrating Finish
Your skin has been through a lot and craves one thing: a dose of hydration. Always finish your deep-cleansing ritual with a hydrating serum and cream suitable for your skin type. This applies even if you have oily skin, which might seem like it doesn't need hydration. The opposite is true.
Forget about old wives' tales regarding skin cleansing and stick to this routine, which is effective yet gentle enough. And radiant, healthy skin will confirm it!
